It’s a matter of customer preference. At International Murphy Beds Inc., we pride ourselves in our commitment to the highest standard of quality. This is why we use only the best melamine surfaces thermally fused to a high density (industrial grade) core. Melamine surfaces of today are a great alternative to the real thing at an affordable price. Although, if you won't settle for less. Our Real wood veneers are of an “A” grade on a plywood core available in Oak, Maple, Knotty Pine, Birch and Cherry surfaces. |

Yes, however, make sure you have it available when installing your Murphy Bed so that you can balance it with the correct number of springs. |

Yes, this type of mattress has been used this way since year one. You cause the mattress to breathe each time you move. We still recommend regular rotation of the mattress, which is primarily to extend the life of the coil springs. |
 |
 |
Yes, but they are only designed for foam mattresses, which are popular in some countries. In North America, approximately 86% of mattresses sold are coil spring. Therefore slats are not required. |

No, you can obtain optimum comfort without a box spring. For years, doctors have recommended a piece of plywood between a box spring and top mattress for better back support and comfort. Many new base supports for conventional beds, are with platforms designed to bring your coil spring top mattress up to an easily accessible height. |

Yes, make up your bed complete with bedding. The pillows are stored at the foot of the bed with Velcro straps to clear the headboard when stored. When going to bed, remove the 'Velcro' straps and run them down the inside of both side rails. Place pillows at head end and you are ready to dream! |

The bed is tested to approximately 1700 lbs. dead weight loading using the Supreme Model Hardware System and the Elite Model Hardware Systems supports 2000 lbs. This is made possible by much stronger metal-to-metal connections, compared to any wood frame model, which is connected metal to wood. |

They are very easy to open and close. Our spring lift mechanism is engineered to allow for up to 9 springs per side. The amount of springs used would be determined by the Murphy Bed size and weight of the mattress used. |

We only offer the Panel Bed type Murphy Bed because it utilizes your floor space more effectively, it is easier to install and relocate, and attaches to the wall instead of your floor. Panel Beds have two front panels which appear to look like doors. These panels tilt down and the other side acts as the platform for the mattress. The frame is attached to these panels. A pair of mechanisms which are cabinet mounted have a tension arm which is attached to the frame and the bed cabinet is attached to the wall at the top. Bi-Fold Door type Murphy Beds open like closet doors. The mechanism is usually bolted to the floor and a cabinet is made around it. You would need approximately 34" of clear space on each side of the bed cabinet to allow for these doors. |

Comfort ultimately lies upon the quality mattress you use. Unlike sofa beds, Murphy Beds are comparable to conventional beds. Our Murphy Beds will allow for a standard size mattress up to 11 inches thick for optimum comfort! |
